At Code & Prose, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document outlines the types of information that is collected and recorded by our website and how we use it.

If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so—for example, to provide our computer science and programming tutorials, to communicate with you, or to improve our overall content layout.

Voluntarily Submitted Data

  • Comments: When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with automated spam detection frameworks.
  • Newsletter Sign-ups: If you subscribe to our newsletter update system, we collect your email address and name to send you programming tutorials, scripts, and tech articles.

Automatically Collected Data (Log Files & Analytics)

Like most standard technical publications, Code & Prose follows a standard procedure of utilizing log files. These files log visitors when they navigate to websites. The information collected by log files includes:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) addresses
  • Browser type and engine version
  • Internet Service Provider (ISP)
  • Date and time stamps
  • Referring and exit pages
  • The total metric of clicks

This data is not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of this information is for analyzing development trends, administering the site, tracking user movement across the pages, and gathering high-level demographic metrics.

2. Cookies and Web Beacons

Code & Prose uses “Cookies” to store critical backend information, including visitor preferences and the specific pages on the website that the user accessed or visited. This information is used to optimize the user experience by customizing our web page content based on the visitor’s browser architecture and system properties.

3. Third-Party Privacy Policies

Our internal Privacy Policy does not apply to external advertisers or other target websites. We strongly advise you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad and analytics servers for more detailed structural information. It may include their explicit operational practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain tracking options.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to monitor, analyze, and optimize web traffic patterns. Google Analytics uses persistent cookies to track user behavioral metrics on our site. You can choose to disable cookies through your individual browser software options.

Advertising Partners

Third-party vendors use cookies to serve targeted advertisements based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other nodes on the wider internet. The integration of advertising cookies enables these platforms to serve tailored ads to users based on their technical interests. Users may opt out of personalized advertising profiles at any time by adjusting their individual browser or network settings.

4. CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)

Under the CCPA, among other protections, California consumers maintain the explicit right to:

  • Request that a business that collects a consumer’s personal data disclose the exact categories and specific pieces of personal data that the business has compiled.
  • Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected over its lifecycle.
  • Request that a business that sells a consumer’s personal data, cease selling that consumer’s personal data immediately.

If you submit an official request under these parameters, we have one month to issue a formal response. If you would like to exercise any of these technical data rights, please contact us.

5. GDPR Data Protection Rights

We want to ensure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user accessing our coding and data science resources is entitled to the following:

  • The right to access – You have the right to request physical or digital copies of your personal data.
  • The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any structural information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data completely, under certain conditions.
  • The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the exact processing pathways of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our automated processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

6. Children’s Information

Another foundational pillar of our platform priority is adding protection frameworks for children while using the open internet. We encourage parents, guardians, and educators to observe, participate in, and monitor online technical activity.

Code & Prose does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you suspect that a child has provided this kind of tracking information on our platform database, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately, and we will deploy our best engineering efforts to promptly strip such information from our server records.

7. Consent

By interacting with our website, accessing our programming code repositories, or reading our documentation, you hereby consent to our formal Privacy Policy and agree to its operational terms.
